what does an inductor do in a circuit| GETWELL

Custom inductor manufacturer tells you

How does the inductor react in the circuit? Next, the inductor manufacturer will analyze it for us in detail.

The function of inductor

Inductors in the circuit mainly play the role of filtering, oscillation, delay, notch and so on, as well as filtering signals, filtering noise, stabilizing current and suppressing electromagnetic interference. The most common function of inductor in the circuit is to form the LC filter circuit together with the capacitor. The capacitor has the characteristic of "blocking DC and AC", while the inductor has the function of "DC and AC resistance".

Inductors are commonly used as energy storage devices in switching mode power devices to generate DC current. Inductors that store energy provide energy to the circuit to keep the current flowing during the "off" switch, thus achieving a topology where the output voltage exceeds the input voltage.

The inductor will resist the change of current

If there is no inductor, it will be just an ordinary LED circuit, and the LED will light up immediately when you toggle the switch. But the inductor is a kind of element that can resist the change of current.

When the switch is turned off, there is no current flow. When you turn on the switch, the current begins to flow. This means that the current that the inductor will resist changes.

Therefore, the current will not immediately change from zero to the maximum value, but will gradually increase to its maximum current.

Because the current determines the light intensity of the LED, the inductor fades the LED instead of turning it on immediately.

An inductor is a component that can convert electrical energy into magnetic energy and store it. The structure of the inductor is similar to that of a transformer, but has only one winding. The inductor has a certain inductance, which only hinders the change of the current. If the inductor is in a state where there is no current, it will try to block the current from flowing through it when the circuit is turned on; if the inductor is in a state where there is current, it will try to keep the current constant when the circuit is disconnected. Inductors are also known as choke, reactor and dynamic reactor.
