What is the difference between power inductors and common mode inductors | GETWELL

power inductors,common mode inductors

Common mode inductance (Common mode Choke), also known as common mode choke coil, is often used to filter common mode electromagnetic interference signals in computer switching power supplies. In the design of the board, the common mode inductance also plays the role of EMI filtering, which is used to suppress the electromagnetic wave generated by the high-speed signal line and radiate to the outside. China chip inductor wholesaler Gewei Electronics mainly researches and manufactures thin power inductors, wire wound power inductors, power inductors, high frequency power inductors, and energy-saving lamp inductors.

Power inductors are divided into two types with magnetic cover and without magnetic cover, mainly composed of magnetic core and copper wire. It mainly plays the role of filtering and oscillation in the circuit.

1. Analysis from the structure

Both power inductors and laminated inductors need to optimize the electrode structure when designing, so that the internal magnetic field of the product becomes more uniform and the magnetic saturation of the product is improved. The size of the power inductor is larger than that of the multilayer inductor, but the appearance is more flat.

2. From the current analysis

The rated current of power inductors can be very large, up to about 1A, while the rated current of laminated inductors can generally only reach tens of mA to hundreds of mA, and the rated current of ordinary ferrite inductors is generally lower than tens of mA. mA

3. Analysis from product application

Power inductors are generally used in DC-DC (power module) loops to stabilize current and store energy. Ordinary ferrite inductors are generally used in microwave and digital circuits to play the role of resonance filtering. Laminated inductors are widely used to process digital signals for signal isolation.

Common mode inductors are bidirectional, and differential mode inductors are unidirectional. The common mode is that the two windings are connected to the neutral wire and the live wire respectively. The two windings have the same input and output, and the common mode signal is filtered out.

Differential mode is a winding, and the filter inductor connected to the neutral and live wires alone can only filter out differential mode interference.

Common Mode Signal: Two identical signals on the neutral and live wires, respectively, they are both coupled and looped to ground.

Differential mode signal: It is the same loop as the useful signal.
